Autism Acceptance is Listening to Every Voice

Autism acceptance is listening to EVERY voice, not just the ones most often centered - speaking, low-support needs, and white. Because exclusion of ANY part of the autism spectrum is unacceptable. Making space to listen & learn from autistics who are non-speaking or minimally speaking, part of BIPOC communities, and other marginalized identities isn’t optional ~ it’s essential. ⤵️

Because true autism acceptance & inclusion sees EVERY lived experience on the spectrum as worthy of care, understanding, support & compassion. ⤵️

Thank you @spellersfreedom and @communication4allorg for your amazing work in the neurodivergent community! You inspire me in our journey with our daughter Nai 👧🏽 who uses an AAC device to support / expand spoken communication. Check out an earlier blog post from this year with tips about supporting your child’s communication with their AAC device.

And let’s keep advocating like a mother, presuming competence and listening to the full spectrum of disabled voices.
